Bangalore Beanstalk

(2019)

A parasitic pavilion constructed in a void created on the facade of the tallest buildings in the Central Business District of Bangalore. It allows one to explore the city from a height that was previously reserved for the elite.

Bilikal Betta Pavilion

 (2019)

Betta translates to rock in Kannada. Bilikal Betta,  located a few kilometers from the city of Bangalore amidst lush greenery is set in a majestic rocky terrain. To build a structure in a pristine landscape would be unjust. This pavilion provides a shady respite in the untouched landscape with minimal damage to the context.

Basavanagudi Police Station

The police station built in the 1800's by the colonial powers in the planned post-plague neighborhood grid of Basavanagudi dominates the surroundings in plan by its centrality

Vertical Rhizome

Bamboo has always been a part of the culture in Assam. This North Eastern Indian state weaves this native grass into its myths, legends and built environment. The Vertical Rhizome aims to build a network of high-rises above the existing layer of the dense city- a respite from floods and earthquakes and a symbol of pride

Church Street is a paranoid body 

Wonderland

Church Street is a paranoid body. Navigating through the theoretical premise set by Deleuze and Guattari's Thousand Plateaus, Church Street appears to be a capitalist frenzy on the hollow foundation of colonial Bangalore. Wonderland is a satire on capitalism and non-referentiality, and its impact on pedagogy.

McDonald's. Fort. Settlement.

AntiMonument- Place as Protest

Cut in half by the National Highway, the fort is now split open for a population that was historically walled out. What started as an explicit reminder of High Culture against Low Culture is now appropriated by the public. The intervention proposes an anti-monument against the image of the ruin and attempts to ask pressing questions about the supposed neutrality of ruins. It is place as protest.

Given the site's political presence as Bangalore's Central Administrative District and its ring of eclectic Pompeian red Europeanate buildings and grand neo-Dravidian structures with urn balusters, Ruth's volume is inherently politicized. The external becomes a reaction to the politics while the interior becomes her own space not devoid of the spirit of decolonization but defined by her as a designer.

From blending tradition with contemporary design to gaining hands-on experience, it offers an immersive and rewarding environment for aspiring architects to learn and grow in the field.
